Wojciech Antoni Sobczyński work explores articulated forms such as diptychs, triptychs and poliptychs, which are stripped from a traditional meaning and reconfigured into free standing abstract forms. The solid surfaces are contrasted by the see -through panels hedged with colour borders. The viewer is given opportunity of altering or shaping, thus having a participatory creative role’.
He studied sculpture in Prof. Jacek Puget studio at the Fine Arts Academy in Krakow. Having won Barbara Robertson’s Scholarship, he went on to study arts at the City and Guild’s of London Art School and then at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he was a student of Prof. Reg Butler.
Since1968, the artist has been living in London. He is a sculptor who entered the realm of painting and combines these two domains in a bold and unique fashion. He has participated in numerous group and solo shows. His artworks are part of private collections in United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, Poland and USA. He is a founder of Page 6 art. Group.
He is founder of ‘Page 6’ art group and initiator of International Art Competition The Little Experiment. Since 2009 he contributes art criticism articles to Nowy Czas (New Times) newspaper in London.
In 2015 his oeuvre became a subject of Ewa Sobczyk’s Master Degree, under supervision of Prof. Jan Wiktor Sienkiewicz at History of Art. I Polish Culture in exile, UMK Torun.
